Welcome to Infractus Voces. You are united with us in blood, and we are pleasured to meet you.
You saunter across the vast land of Mournwood Hallow, ears pricked and alert as you cautiously stride onward. My, how this land was so... quiet. An eerie silence flooded the plain, and you could hear the blood rushing in your ears, heart pounding. Why are you here? You're too close to the Mordere av Natten camp, and it is well known how dangerous they are. You tremble, claws digging into the soil as tiny droplets of rain begin to pelt your frame. Boy, and it was cold, too. Brows drawing together in both nervousness and suspicion, you pivot around on a hind paw and head back into the densely-wooded grove that you had padded through earlier.
This place was horrifyingly creepy, and you swore to yourself that you could hear the maddening chuckle of a wolf behind you, but a quick glance backward proves your ears wrong. You were alone. Why you had brought yourself here was beyond question, and you didn't feel the least bit happy being stuck here. You have heard rumors of rebellion and revolt in your midst, and you ponder on why a wolf would rebel against their own blood-bound pack. Then again, there had to be a reason. Shaking your head to rid of the water drizzling from your soaked chin, you quickly decide as to what on Earth you were going to do. In all reality, why were you here in the first place?
Well, first of all, you were most likely searching for fabled landmarks in the area, or you were more interested in the packs that were here. One centered around morals and justice, while another focused on power, brutality, and triumph. So, the rumors and theories were proven by the constant battles between each pack. You frown and look down at your paws, bleeding and sore from your perilous journey. You needed to rest, but it was well known that taking a nap in Mournwood Hallow could lead to waking up with jaws locked on your throat. Shivering, you clamber up a slope and swirl your tail, gazing about the visible features of the landscape that lay before you. So quiet. It really was chilling. Wasn't there supposed to be, oh you didn't know, battles everywhere? You were prepared to be lunged at any moment, but nothing ever happened, because in Mournwood Hallow, you weren't going to go out with a bang.
"Uh... hello?" you scoff, though your eyes were wide in uncertainty. Listening for anything... You can only hear your pulse quicken, and the blood rush in your ears even louder than before. Breathing rapidly, you hear a twig snap behind you and a large shadow seems to cloak you in darkness. No, this wasn't funny. This was some joke. Snarling, you let your pelt ripple along your spine and you find yourself surrounded by only darkness... As the clouds choke out the last of the sun's light.
"Didn't you know that rogues aren't safe out here?" a sly, venomous voice rattles, a humored chuckle escaping its intimidating pale eyes. "Can't you see where you're at, wolf?"
The shadowed figure stepped from the mist that settled about the grove, its pelt solid black, with splotches of silver here and there, and littered with many horrific scars. Its eyes were stark white, with no pupils visible or... anything. You take a gulp and step back, furrowing your brows. Who on Earth would show their face to you? You could take anyone on. Lifting your tail, you allow a snarl to rip from your throat, eyes wild with both fear and anger.
"Treat your leader with more respect," the stranger hisses, continuing to reveal from the thick mist, his entire body finally showing. "You should know by now that you're in my land. In Mordere av Natten's land. Thankfully, we need wolves like you in our ranks, in order to silence the voice of Krone Seelen, crying for their pitiful beliefs. It sickens me." The odd, dark brute kicks soil in your direction, soon gesturing a paw to the south and growling. "You came for a reason, and I'd hate to crash your little adventure, but you're practically asking for it."
Grinning, the Dra dips his head, multiple wolves behind him finally revealing behind the thick fog. Their eyes seem to glow against the dull lighting of the area, their pelts all either covered in scars, or stained with the blood of another. Some of them even match their leader's chilling grin. You can only stand and stare at the heavily distorted figures ahead, your vision seeming to haze as the pit of your stomach twists.
Tail falling behind you, you can only gaze, dumbfounded, as you awaited your demise. At least, you thought to be your demise. With a sharp inhale, you squabble backwards, twisting around and darting in the opposite direction, the voice of that ghastly being still fresh in your mind.
"Run!" wolves chanted as you darted away, "Run, and let us meet again, coward!" You keep running, shaking your skull vigorously as your tail hides between your hinds, eyes burning. Holy shit... Was that...? Mordere av Natten? What did they want? You panic, the pace of your breath quickening as you stumble through the mist of dusk and stumble over several rocks and fallen logs. You just wanted out of here.
"Now this is the law of the forest, as old and as true as the sky.
The wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the traitor that girdles the tree trunk, the law runneth forward and back;
For the strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack."
